National Beef Bendigo
Well, it was time for my first ‘National Beef’ experience in the freezing town of Bendigo!. The ‘long weekend’ saw me a fantastic array of clipped, blow dryed, groomed and shiny, beef breeds!
The three days of judging proved to be a great way to learn more about beef cattle assessment, it was great fun picking my own place-getters before seeing who the judge picked and listening to their reasoning as to why.
Breeds that were exhibited at the show included Highlands, Galloways, Belted Galloways, Maine Anjou, Red Angus, Angus, Charolais, Dexter, Lowline, Shorthorn, Murray Grey, Belgian Blue, Welsh Black, Limousin and Speckle Park.
The wonderful Welsh Black breed took out the interbreed on the Sunday, a fantastic result for the breed and stud that exhibited. A breed that definitely deserves more recognition in Australia!
It was a great weekend and something I would recommend to anyone getting started in beef assessment or just wanting to see all the different breeds of beef cattle!
Also had the chance to have a walk around the freezing but beautiful old goldrush city of Bendigo and have a rather wonderful peep at the buildings and sights! So I better give you guys a look too!
Thanks for reading!,
